Arignar Anna Zoological Park
The Arignar Anna Zoological Park is located in the Chennai city of the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu in India. It is also called Vandalur Zoo. It is India's largest zoo area wise. It also has a Rescue and Rehabilitation Center. It is counted amongst the best modern zoos of India. The zoo houses several cashew and Eucalyptus trees. The vegetation type is primarily dry deciduous. Numerous floral species are found inside the zoo.
The animals to be found in the Arignar Anna Zoological Park include Tiger, Leopard, Nilgiri Langur, Black buck, Indian Bison, Barking deer, Hyena, and Lion-tailed Macaque. It also enjoys the distinction of being the first public zoo in India. The zoo houses as many as 46 endangered species. The zoo is named after the politician of Tamil Nadu, Annadurai. The zoo campus sprawls across 510 hectares of land. Battery operated vehicles can be utilized to roam inside the zoo premises. There is even a Zoo hospital inside the Arignar Anna Zoological Park to take care of the zoo denizens. The place is a popular tourist attraction in Chennai and is visited by people from across the world.
There are safaries as well - Dear Safari and Lion Safari, which can be enjoyed at an extra cost.
