Rajaji National Park
Rajaji National Park, nestled in the Shivalik range of the Himalayas, is a sprawling wildlife sanctuary located in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. Established in 1983, the park spans an area of over 820 square kilometers, encompassing diverse ecosystems ranging from dense forests to grasslands and riverine habitats.
Named after the renowned freedom fighter, C. Rajagopalachari, the park is celebrated for its rich biodiversity and is home to a plethora of flora and fauna. Visitors to Rajaji National Park can embark on thrilling wildlife safaris, where they have the opportunity to spot a variety of wildlife species, including the majestic Bengal tiger, Asian elephant, leopard, sloth bear, and several species of deer and primates. Birdwatchers also flock to the park to catch sight of over 300 avian species, making it a paradise for bird enthusiasts.
The park remains open to visitors from mid-November to mid-June, with the best time for wildlife sightings being during the winter months from November to February. It's advisable to check the safari timings and availability in advance, as well as any seasonal closures or restrictions.
