Golconda Fort
The Golkonda fort is also called the Golla Konda, which means a round shaped hill. It is situated in the city of Hyderabad in India and was built during the Qutb Shahi dynasty. The fort was completed in the 17th century and is one of the most prominent landmarks of Hyderabad. The fort is built on a Granite hill, which is 480 feet high.
The fort was once the capital of the Qutb Shahi dynasty. The Golkonda Fort is an important archaeological site in the region. The entry is through the Fateh Darwaza, which means the Victory Gate. The fort is spread across a vast area of 11 km. The Bala Hissar Gate is the main entrance to the fort on the fort's east side. Bala Hissar is the highest point of the fort. The Toli Masjid is located 2 km from the Golkonda Fort. The fort is known for its acoustic system. No to be missed attractions within the fort are the water supply system, factories, and the famous Rahban cannon. The fort also houses the tombs of the Qutb Shahi Kings, which are built in Islamic architectural style. A Sound and Light Show is also organized at the fort in the evenings.
