Jim Corbett National Park

The Jim Corbett National Park is located in Ramnagar in the state of Uttarakhand in India. The Park was established in the year 1936 and is a wildlife haven. The Jim Corbett National Park is the oldest National Park of India and was set up to protect the Royal Bengal Tiger. The park is named after Jim Corbett who played a major role in the establishment of the park. This was the first park that saw the Project Tiger being implemented.

The Jim Corbett National Park is spread across 201.1 square miles and is home to numerous species of flora and fauna. The forest is of deciduous type. The important tree species found inside include Mango, Peepal, Saal, and Rohini. Nearly 73% area of the park is covered by forests while 10% is occupied by grasslands. As many as 25 species of reptiles, 580 species of avifauna, and 110 species of trees are found inside the forests. The Ramganga river flows through the Jim Corbett National Park and is called the lifeline of the forest.

The Park is best visited between November and June. Safaris are organized inside the forest. The park is divided into five zones - canter and jeep safaris are conducted in morning and evening slots.
