Tungnath, nestled in the serene Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand, is renowned as the highest Shiva temple in the world. Situated at an elevation of approximately 3,680 meters (12,073 feet), Tungnath holds immense religious significance for Hindu devotees and is one of the Panch Kedar, a group of five temples dedicated to Lord Shiva in the Garhwal region.

The trek to Tungnath is a soul-stirring experience, winding through lush green meadows, dense forests of rhododendron and oak, and offering awe-inspiring vistas of the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas. The temple, though small in size, exudes a mystical charm and tranquility that draws pilgrims and trekkers alike. While the temple remains open throughout the year, it is accessible only during the summer months from April to November, as heavy snowfall during winter makes the region impassable. Trekking enthusiasts often combine a visit to Tungnath with a trek to Chandrashila, a nearby peak renowned for its panoramic views of the Himalayan range.
