The Lalbagh Botanical Garden is located in Bengaluru, the capital city of Karnataka state in India. It is also called the 'Red Garden', the literal translation in English. The Lalbagh is a very famous botanical garden in Bengaluru and was constructed by Hyder Ali, the King of Mysuru. The Glasshouse is a famous landmark of the garden which plays host to the annual flower shows.  The Park derives its name 'Lalbagh' from the numerous red roses that are found in plenty.

The Lalbagh Botanical Garden boasts of the largest collection of tropical plants. There is also a beautiful lake inside the garden. The commonly found birds are the Common Egret, Parakeets, Crows, Pond Herons etc. The Lalbagh Botanical Garden is based on the theme of the Mughal gardens and is spread across a huge area of 188 acres. A major tourist attraction is the Peninsular Gneiss Rock formation, which is believed to be 3,000 million years old! On the second and fourth weekends, the Government of Karnataka organizes the Janapada Jaatre, which is a festival of folk dance, plays, and music from all parts of the state of Karnataka.
