The Kaziranga National Park is situated in Assam state, in Golaghat and Nagaon districts in India. The park is home to two-third of the population of One-horned Rhinoceros! The park was declared a World Heritage Site in 1985. It was established in the year 1908 and is spread across 170 square miles. Currently, the Rhino population stands at about 2,401 of which 663 are male Rhinos and 802, females. As many as 205 Rhino cubs and 251 juveniles are found inside the reserve.

The Kaziranga National Park was declared a tiger reserve in the year 2006. It is also home to the highest tiger density in the country. Moreover, Kaziranga is also a prominent bird area. Several species of migratory birds are found in the Kaziranga. It has been at the core of several songs and books. Four major rivers run through the Kaziranga, including the Brahmaputra. The park has been severely affected by the natural and man-made catastrophes in the past including floods etc.

The best time to visit Kaziranga National Park is from November to April. The heavy rains make the park inaccessible during the rainy season. Morning and evening safaris are organized inside the forest.
