Marble Palace
The Marble Palace is a 19th century palatial mansion in the city of Kolkata in the state of West Bengal in India. Situated on the Muktaram Babu Street, the Marble Palace is one of the best preserved 19th century houses in Kolkata. The Marble Palace is known for its marble walls, sculptures, and floors to which it owes its name. The Palace was built in the year 1835 by Raja Rajendra Mullick, an affluent merchant and art collector. The palace houses paintings by Indian and European artists, Victorian furniture, magnificent chandeliers, mirrors, etc. The Marble Palace Zoo is adjacent to the palace and is considered India's first zoo.
