Lodhi Gardens
The Lodhi Gardens are an important landmark of Delhi. These are situated in the capital city of India, New Delhi, and are spread across a huge area of 90 acres. The Lodhi Gardens also have the tomb of Sikander Lodhi, the Tomb of Mohammed Shah, Bara Gumbad, and the Shisha Gumbad. The gardens are afforded protection by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
The tomb of Mohammed Shah was built by Ala-ud-din Alam Shah in 1444 and has an octagonal chamber as well as stone Chhajjas at the roof. There are Guldastas at the corners. The Tomb of Sikander Lodhi resembles Mohammed Shah's tomb except for the Chhatris. The Bada Gumbad is located in the middle of the garden and is a dome constructed of rubble. The Bada Gumbad is the gateway to the mosque, which was built in 1494. The Shisha Gumbad, or the Glass Dome is located opposite the Bada Gumbad. It is so named because of the use of glazed tiles in its construction. The Lodhi Gardens are a famous picnic spot and a hotspot for morning walks in Delhi.
