The Rashtrapati Bhavan is one of the most important landmarks of the city of New Delhi, the capital of India. The structure is the official residence of the honorable President of India and is situated on the Rajpath. The building was formerly called the Viceroy's House. In 1950, the name was changed to the 'Rashtrapati Bhawan'.

The Rashtrapati Bhavan includes the President's residence, numerous guest rooms, halls, offices, Mughal Gardens (the Presidential Gardens), stables, the bodyguards' residences, etc. The Rashtrapati Bhavan is considered to be one of the world's largest residences of the head of state. The Rashtrapati Bhavan gardens are famous the world over and are open to the general public every year in February. The Mughal gardens are located at the back of the Rashtrapati Bhawan. The architect of the building is Edwin Lutyens. The Rashtrapati Bhawan was constructed using as many as 700 million bricks! It is built mostly in the European style of architecture. There are no windows on the front side of the building. There are 355 decorated rooms in the Bhawan.

 

The Rashtrapati Bhawan remains open from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. If you wish to visit the Rashtrapati Bhawan, you could utilize the online booking system. There is an entry fee of Rs. 50/-. Indian citizens need to carry their photo identification proof while foreign nationals should carry copies of their passports.
