Historically called 'Keralam', this state in South India is located on the Malabar Coast. The chief language of the state is Malayalam while the capital city is Thiruvananthapuram. Formed in 1956, Kerala has the distinction of being the state with the highest literacy rate in India. Kerala is the 13th largest state in the country by population.

If there's one thing Kerala is most famous for, it has to be Kerala's exotic spices. Pepper, Cloves, Cardamom, Cinnamon, Cashew, Coconut, Coffee, Tea, Rubber are all grown on this God's Own Country! The state is an eco-tourism hub where several activities including mountaineering, trekking, bird watching etc are organized in the Western Ghats.

The state hosts 12 wildlife sanctuaries and two national parks. The Periyar Tiger Reserve is an extraordinary ecosystem - an important eco-tourism destination. The backwaters are an extensive network of rivers, canals, and lakes - those at Kumarakom, Alleppy, and Punnamada are particularly famous. Padmanabhapuram Palace is an important heritage site in the state. Kovalam, Varkala, Payyambalam, etc host some of the most exotic beaches! Munnar is a popular hill station known for its tea plantations and flora-fauna. Idukki arch dam is the world's second arch dam and Asia's first.
