The Birla Mandir is a Hindu temple situated in Kolkata in West Bengal. The temple was constructed by the renowned industrialist Birla family. The temple is dedicated to Lord Laxminarayan. On the occasion of Janmashtami, which is the birthday of Lord Krishna, devotees from far off places throng to the temple. The construction of the temple was completed in 26 years - such is its magnificence and grandeur! There are also shrines of Goddess Durga and Lord Shiva inside the temple, which is constructed in white marble. The temple is situated in the Asutosh Chowdhury Avenue, Ballygunge and is one of the most prominent structures of the city.
