The Nahargarh Fort is located on the Aravali Hills in the Pink City - Jaipur. The Fort is famous for spectacular views of the city. The Fort served a crucial purpose from the point of view of defence and its original name was Sudarshangarh. The literal meaning of Nahargarh is 'The Abode of Tigers'. The Fort was constructed by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II in 1734 A.D.

The Nahargarh Fort is one of the foremost landmarks of the city of Jaipur and is a prominent tourist attraction. Sawai Ram Singh had the fort extended during his reign. The Madhavendra Bhawan inside the Fort was built by Sawai Madho Singh. The Bhawan houses suites for the royal ladies and the King Himself, which are interconnected by corridors. The Nahargarh Fort is also considered to be a hunting residence of the rulers. The fort has been associated with several important historical events in the history of Jaipur including the war treaties with the Marathas in the 18th century. The fort is also known for its wall, which connects it to the Jaigarh fort.
