Amber Palace

The Amber Palace is located in Amber, the old capital of the ruling family of Jaipur. The beautiful palace is located in the Pink City of India, Jaipur, and was constructed by Raja Man Singh in the year 1592 A.D. The palace is constructed in red sandstone and is a marvel of ancient engineering and architecture. 

The 'Maota Lake' is situated in the front of the palace and is the primary source of water for the palace. The Amber Palace was constructed in four levels. Particularly noteworthy is the Diwan-i-Aam, the Diwan-i-Khas, the Sheesh Mahal, and the Sukh Niwas. The palace also houses a beautiful ancient temple dedicated to Goddess Sila Devi. The palace once served as the residence for the ruling family and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Sukh Niwas is famous for its artificially created cool climate conditioned by the winds blowing over a water cascade. The palace is situated atop a hill in the old city of Amber. Not to be missed is the Light and Sound Show in English and Hindi held in the evening. The show attempts to recreate the glorious history of the palace and is narrated by Megastar Amitabh Bachchan.
